LEARN MORE ABOUT GRO

WHAT IS

AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BUFFALO?

The Buffalo GRO program launched in January of 2018, and over the years, the program and the GRO leadership have established a strong foundation. While the exact number of programs continues to evolve, we are currently focusing on approximately 13 core initiatives. These efforts span four key areas: Our Economy, Our People, Our Place, and Our Program. To make this effort a reality, we have over 25 local citizens who are actively engaged. These leaders bring with them a variety of experiences and perspectives. We have elected officials, educators, business leaders, social service leaders, retired citizens, students, and many others.

Gro Buffalo provides an intentional umbrella under which community leaders and members can come together and create strategic direction, resources, and implementation for key community priorities.

Buffalo History

Buffalo, Missouri, is on the move. Our community is experiencing growth in programs and support for business development, community empowerment, and city beautification projects. Buffalo has been recognized twice by the Missouri Community Betterment Association with the Community of the Year Award for extraordinary achievements. We are the only Missouri community in the 60 year history of the award to have achieved this honored status two years in a row. As a community, we have made significant strides through the GRO Buffalo economic development program, which launched the Helping Hands community beautification initiative, Leadership Buffalo, Industry Day, airport redevelopment efforts, rural broadband advocacy and downtown revitalization initiatives.

YOUR BUSINESS BELONGS HERE

Buffalo’s forward-thinking team fosters our culture of growth and innovation. Small-business start-ups thrive alongside long-standing and supportive members of the business community. Entrepreneurs have access to local business resources such as our business speaker series, the Dallas County Economic Development Group, and Chamber of Commerce network who can help link businesses and start-ups with the resources available through Missouri State University’s eFactory, Small Business Development Center, and the New Growth Women’s Business Center. These partners offer valuable access to support systems utilized by entrepreneurs to achieve success, i.e., educational, financial, resource, innovation, technology, and job creation. These services are particularly helpful to enterprising women, minorities and home-based businesses operating in our community. DCEDG and the Buffalo Chamber also made a co-working space available to the diverse businesses and non-traditional workers that require flexibility. You don’t have to leave Buffalo for great wifi. We’re equipped to handle a growing tech industry with access to fiber and broadband services.

Our community is tight-knit, but not in the nosey neighbor way you’re thinking. The biggest perk of owning a business in Buffalo is the incredible community support. Your “regulars” aren’t just customers they’re your downtown neighbors and friends that feel like family. Outside of business hours, you’ll find community members pitching in to help each other. They pitch in at community clean-up events, parades, and festivals. As it turns out, we’re tight-knit because we like each other. We enjoy seeing our neighbors succeed.

We work hard to build and maintain a quality of place, with a clean environment, quality schools, kid/family friendly activities, family and community support systems, rich cultural history, engaged citizens, active leadership, beautiful parks, YMCA, gyms, and restaurants.
In addition, we are an outdoor mecca with access to lakes, rivers, Ozark mountains, golf, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and a plethora of other outdoor activities too numerous to mention. We simply invite you to come and see for yourself!
