WHY IS THE PROJECT IMPORTANT

Access to quality local infrastructure and housing are the most fundamental asset that are needed to attract/retain young families to small rural communities. The GRO team will work alongside the Eldon City Hall to create and mobilize a plan that addresses this opportunity.

OVERALL PROJECT GOAL

2022 Goal:

  • Refurbish the city’s water distribution system.
  • Refurbish the wastewater collection and treatment system.
  • Repair the streets throughout the city. and Remove and replace distressed residential properties with new homes for workers and families.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO- DATE

– Passed 2020 Waste Water System Bond Issue
– Started work on 3rd street repairs
– Community passed a major infrastructure development bond.

Activities, Challenges and Next Steps

Project Update: Eldon Manor, Eldon Estates facility and is going to be flipping the estate and all the lots for the bid have been sold. There are lots of requests for the Colorado property.
We are right on schedule for the treatment plant, hopefully will be complete the first week of April.
The water line going to Quaker has been pushed back, but it’s all in the progress.
New asphalt plant being put in Eldon, which will be helpful when in place it will be cheaper to do any asphalt projects.

  • 43 houses have been torn down
  •  30 still need to be torn down
  •  20 houses are being built
  •  New ordinances are now in place and are encouraging greater cooperation in the
    community. Brokering efforts to reduce the cost to tear down the property.
  •  A lot of projects going on…single and multi-family efforts
  •  Did an occupancy for Quaker, 250 jobs
  • An apartment complex is being developed: 48
  • A second complex is also being built:
